Have you considered using vintage maps to cover your old popup trailer countertops while camping, with modgepodge and polyurethane for durability?

I’m super excited about the idea of covering my old popup trailer counter tops with vintage maps. The only downside is that I’ll have to do it during the 4 days I’m camping, since I don’t have another place to set it up. Luckily, I won’t need to use the counter tops during those 4 days while the maps are curing. I’m thinking of using modgepodge and then applying polyurethane on top. What do you think about this? Oh, and I’ve already painted and installed new hardware on the doors and hinges.

Have you considered using epoxy instead?

Over time, epoxy tends to yellow according to

In my opinion, using poly that is too thick can lead to cracks and peeling. One option is to apply epoxy first, followed by a couple of coats of poly. Epoxy itself does not provide UV protection, but you can add Urethane for that. Polyester also creates a thick coating similar to epoxy. I think it doesn’t require a separate UV coat.

Just give UVPoxy a try, it works great for this type of project. It levels itself and can be layered up to 1/8 inch with about two coats. The only downside is, similar to other epoxy countertops, it’s best to avoid direct contact with food 🤷‍♂️

If you’re careful to prevent food from touching it, epoxy can be a great option
