Has anyone successfully repaired a creaky subfloor under carpet by peeling back sections for repair?

Hey, just curious – has anyone tried lifting up pieces of carpet to fix their creaky subfloor? My upstairs is carpeted and the floor is creaking a lot. Wondering if that might be a solution. Any thoughts?

I’d rearrange all the furniture to one side of the room

Simply peel back the carpet and fasten the subfloor to the floor joist with screws, as it is probably nailed down at the moment.

You don’t have to yank out the carpet. If you locate the joists, just use trim screws to attach them to the joists. This way, you can avoid causing any damage to the carpet.
