Given the sizing issue with your kitchen cabinets, would a 55cm cooker hood be a suitable alternative?

Good morning and happy new year, everyone! So, I’ve been on a little mission lately…turns out my house doesn’t have an extractor fan or cooker hood. I thought I’d just grab one that’s 60 cm wide like my oven, but guess what? The space between my cabinets is only 59cm! I’m one centimeter short, can you believe it? Any ideas on where to go from here? It seems like whoever installed my kitchen made a mistake. Do you think a 55cm cooker hood could work instead? Thanks a bunch! 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Check out the variety of options available in your specific size. They have a range of sizes to choose from.
Thank you, I will definitely consider that. I’m just curious if it might seem strange to have a smaller hood compared to the oven..
If you make sure it’s centered, the color of the fillers on each side of the cabinets, no one would be able to tell without a measuring tape
59 cm is approximately 23 inches. After a quick Google search, I found several options ranging from 21 to 23 inches. Some are meant for RVs but can still be used at home. You’ll definitely find something suitable. I attempted to search in cm, but since I’m in the US, my phone got confused and showed irrelevant results. 😆
Was a bit puzzled by the phone situation. Thanks for checking it out! 🙂
My son convinced me to get a microwave with an exhaust fan, and we’re loving it! Maybe you can find one that fits your needs?
Can you make modifications to the hood/exhaust unit without it looking bad?
You could try finding a smaller one to install and then have a custom cover made. Something similar to this, and you can paint it to match the cabinets.
I have a complete 36″ hood over an island. However, my ex-husband has a smaller wall-mounted one (with a flat back) between cabinets and I think it looks fantastic! I wish I had a picture. It fits the space perfectly though.
