Does anyone have clear build plans for a pantry similar to the one in the photo I found?

Does anyone have any detailed build plans for a pantry similar to this one? The one I came across is a bit confusing. Thanks in advance!
Check how much space you have, figure out what materials you need, grab some 2x4s and screws, cut them to size. Put everything together and screw it into the wall studs. Or attach your main supports to the wall, put everything else together, and screw it all. What part are you confused about?
Hey, I’ve never actually tried a DIY building project before, so I’m really just looking for some more detailed instructions. I mean, which pieces are supposed to go where, right? Thanks for the help!
Got it! 2x4s come in varying lengths, so make sure to factor that in when planning your materials. Drawing it out on paper can really help visualize everything. And don’t forget to consider the type of doors you’ll be using or making. Remember, it’s okay to make mistakes and start over if needed – we’ve all been there before!
Did you find it easy to understand everything when you built something for the first time without any experience, or did you need some help to learn?
Did you actually read our whole conversation? Time to catch up, haha.
I inquired about the issue well before you provided any useful input, but she was quite explicit in her initial question. The ball is in your court. 🙄
I responded to their question initially and then offered some advice and support. Just chill out, lady.
How about a pantry for the kitchen? Maybe it could be designed as a large cabinet?
I hate to break it to you, but if you don’t have any experience with this kind of project, it’s probably best not to attempt it. First of all, you’re working around a double light switch that should have been relocated before the stud frame was put up. Otherwise, you’ll end up opening the pantry every time you try to turn on those lights. Unfortunately, DIY television shows have led to the downfall of many homes by encouraging people without any construction skills or knowledge to carry out unpermitted work that would never pass a building inspection, ultimately reducing the value of the house for future buyers…
Just to clarify, this isn’t their project, it’s a sample of what they aim to create. Haha
Like Kristie mentioned, it’s simply an inspiration picture, not one of my own! My house is older with a tiny kitchen & no pantry. Right now, we have a freestanding one but it’s not very stable. We’re not planning to move any electrical stuff, just extending on a flat wall. Thanks!
Let’s head to IKEA, grab some stuff, follow the directions, and we’re all set!
I had just been there checking out their Billy bookcases with the doors!
Even though the header is not load-bearing, it’s important to complete it correctly. Framing, drywalling, finishing, trimming, and painting are all necessary steps. It’s ideal to have tools and experience, or you could hire a contractor for around 1k to handle it.
Haha….have you checked out contractor prices recently?
Hey , I’m here!
I’m constantly building pantries for around 1k. It usually takes me about a day and a half including dry time for the mud and paint.
😬
The door opening meets code requirements for an interior non-load-bearing wall 🤷♂️, except for the absence of jacks.
If you want to avoid corners cracking. I didn’t mean to say it’s not up to code. But it’s important to frame all doorways and window openings correctly.
Are you saying we need a real 2×8 header for this? 😄
No, 2x4s on edge with king studs and jacks. This is important if it will have French doors.
I did mention that it needed jacks, but other than that, it’s good. There is no weight on it, so it won’t crack.

It really depends on where you’re living. In many areas, it’s part of the building code. That’s why they advise you to stand in a doorway if there’s no other option for earthquakes and tornadoes. I’ve been in construction for more than 20 years, all over the country.
Oh, absolutely, it’s going to Crack. We’re always fixing them when people mess up. The frame can twist if not done correctly.
Hey Aaron, you shared all that but can’t reply to her inquiry?
I went ahead and did it in a different row. Appreciate it!

Instead of buying materials and spending time building it, you might want to consider looking on Amazon to find one that suits your preferences.
Hey, I believe they’re searching for instructions to construct one themselves. Am I mistaken?
Agreed, let’s construct our own to maximize storage space from floor to ceiling
Here is a link for you… haha

Or maybe we could go with 2-3 of these…

Guess what? We actually have two of these now! We just really love the idea of a floor-to-ceiling built-in pantry because it’s so versatile for storage.
What’s the point of having a pantry setup like this? You’d be better off with pantry cabinets. This kind of pantry has doors that fold out into the room, with hidden dead spaces inside. Plus, all that 2×4 framing takes up space. Cabinets with pull-outs are much more practical.
You should consider purchasing cabinets. The picture is quite clear. No structural issues. Just attach the top plate to the joists and you’re good to go. However, be prepared for a big mess and expenses. I suggest going the prefinished route.
I follow this girl on Instagram who created a floor to ceiling pantry using ikea billy bookcases. It turned out really nice. You can check out her Instagram @desiraeathome. I’m not sure if she posted a step by step tutorial, but you could try searching for built-in pantry with Billy bookcase to find something similar.
Here is a screenshot of the video. She goes through a sort of step by step guide on her page! You’ll need to scroll quite a bit to find it.
Sounds interesting, I’ll definitely take a look! Thank you for sharing!
You really need blueprints for that???
Not everyone is a fan of following someone else’s plans, right? And how else are we going to have some fun without seeing pics of the crazy thing you constructed and then it collapsed :p
I may not know the exact steps to build it, but here’s how we transformed a hallway cupboard and pantry to maximize space. ‘t overlook the enclosed area. Install a ‘floor’, add doors (we repurposed two door tops for the upper cupboard). It’s perfect for storing infrequently used items.
I recommend looking into “general framing or construction techniques” before starting anything to ensure stability and efficiency in your project.
Install drywall, hang some bifold doors, and add shelving for sure
