Do I need to sand or prime before painting trim and baseboards with semi-gloss finish?

Is this paint semi gloss? I’m planning to repaint the trim, baseboards, and doors with a semi gloss finish. Do I have to sand or prime them first, or can I just paint over them directly?

Make sure to sand, particularly when using oil-based paints. You may encounter problems later on. A light sanding is important for your next layer

It’s definitely sand, and it might be a semi gloss or possibly a soft gloss

Seems to be a baked-on coating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1djJmptmo0Q

Hmm…what’s the deal with that door?

To me, it appears like gloss. The glossiness of house paint isn’t that pronounced. High gloss is the really shiny stuff.
