Do I need a special kind of paint to seal the side panels of my back door bump out if I’m not getting them replaced?

So, here’s the deal – my house has this little bump out next to the back door. I’m in the process of getting the back door switched out. The door folks mentioned something about sealing the side panels (since I’m not swapping those out). Should I just paint them? And if so, is regular outdoor paint okay, or do I need a specific type of paint for that?
If the panels in question are not being altered, I’m not sure why they would require any work. If I were in your shoes, I would ask for a detailed explanation of what needs to be done and why it is necessary.
I’ll give them a call on Monday, I only realized they’re closed on the day I thought about it, .
Will the new door fit just like the old one? Perhaps that’s what they’re suggesting due to the gap between the new door and the siding.
Yes, the new door will fit just like the old one, .
