Can you suggest a closer job opportunity for me to splice, since my boss wants me to stay nearby?

Scotchlok connectors
Simple to do
Make sure to tell him to do it! Haha 😂
I remember having to repair one of those cables about 8-9 years ago when a backhoe accidentally hit the incoming conduit 👀
Did it take you around half an hour? Did you crimp or solder/heatshrink?
Mark uy connecting b involves using a weatherproof junction box… it took me all day and I was completely exhausted after
I remember a time on a construction site when a guy mistakenly identified a 150 pair cable as a tree root and cut it with an axe. It caused a lot of phone service disruptions for customers for several hours. Due to erosion and some grading, it was much closer to the surface than usual.
I’ve been in that situation as well!
Mark uy took me about half an hour? That almost seems like a full day’s work…lol
My name is Asonele Aso Molwen. I come from Qumbu, and I am thankful for my father’s excellent work ethic. I was once struggling, but my sister from Newlands helped me when my father put money into my account. I called my father and he gave me money within an hour. I received 2.2 million in my bank account, and my father took 20 percent. He did everything for me, and you can reach him at 0676852601. Amen 🙏🙏🙏
I have no idea where to begin with something like that.
Organized the bundles of 25 pairs that were already labeled
Use a blowtorch on the ends
Slice it into 3-foot sections, burn it, and then drop it off at a nearby scrap yard 🤣…🤘🏻👌🏻🤑
Wagos connectors
Place a 1-inch wide metal sheet under the jacket before cutting it with a razor. Sorry, but I’m just improvising here.
Check out this Wago connector with a wink 😉
How about superglue or epoxy?
Simply go with the colors
When you strip back about 12″ of the jacket, you’ll notice all the colored ribbons around the sets of 25 pairs. Start with blue and go from there.
Hey , I totally hear what you’re saying!
I always struggled with remembering the colors and keeping track, it was definitely the toughest part for me.
That’s pretty much the gist of the job description, haha!
Start with the blue and then finish the rest, it’s a cute little rhyme.
How about starting with 25 pairs of ? Or maybe go big with 250 pairs!
There’s a double ribbon around each 250 pair, but each 25 pair has a single color ribbon following the same primary color sets: blue, orange, green, brown, and grey.
Knows what’s up! I’ve had to fix those pesky underground cables before. Working in pairs definitely speeds things up. But, man, having one of those Ma Bell splice tents, workbench, and the right tools would make life so much easier. Patience is definitely key in this line of work!
I didn’t even realize until you pointed it out. 😃
Molwen igama lami Asonele Aso, ndise qumbu. I don’t know how to thank you enough for your great work. I was left speechless when I met Sister from Newlands who called my father to help her with money that went into my account. I told myself that I would call my father and an hour later I received money in my bank account which was 2.2 million. He then deducted 20% of this money that I received. My father did everything and he can be reached at this number via call or WhatsApp 0676852601 amen 🙏🙏🙏
You definitely need more than just 12 inches.
Take it step by step.
Looks like a Bic cable to me. Just need to match the color of the ribbons
He is hoping that you will stop
Just pull a new cable and your problem will be resolved
Joshua Berthelot
Hey Joshua! You still have connections on both ends of the cable, so splicing it there might be quicker and easier.
Saying “not my budget” is his response.
Hey there, my name is Asonele Aso and I’m from Qumbu. I’m so grateful for my dad and all the hard work he does. Recently, I found myself in a tight spot and my sister from Newlands helped me out by lending me some money. I promised to pay my dad back within an hour and true to my word, I received a deposit of 2.2 million into my bank account, with my dad taking 20% of it. He’s amazing and can be reached at 0676852601. Amen 🙏🙏🙏
You’ll be at your own worksite until 2025.
Consider switching over to fiber optics.
I totally agree with , it’s definitely easier to end things.
Hey Michael, you’ll need a pricey device for this task. But trust me, it’s a lot easier, quicker, and more enjoyable. Just one fiber could be worth more than 12,500 pairs.
‘t forget to offset your butt splices, okay?
Before anything else, make sure to get a mailbox!
I think there are around 200 pairs here…
No problem, it’s easy to splice. He didn’t mention wanting the colors to match up, did he?
Reg Baz makes it look easy, but it can be quite lengthy
You know you’re not being honest when…
Make sure to use the red wire connectors
Hey , imagine if he uses a blue one to connect them all under a single wirenut!
I would definitely do it. But only for an hourly wage
Before you begin installing individual splices, you might have to trim the outer insulation slightly 🤔
That’s not doable
Yes, it is possible. Many phone company workers have done it multiple times.
Is like having two of the same colors.
Most of them will have multiple colors, with one main color and a different colored stripe. Like red with a yellow stripe, red with a green stripe, green with a red stripe, yellow with a red stripe, and so on. Just mix and match until you have enough pairs.
A large butt splice.
Contact a low-voltage specialist, not an electrician.

Rab a chair and an umbrella and get going
I’ve tackled splicing jobs multiple times. Once you understand it, it’s not that difficult.
I’ve completed a few of these so just double-check the color codes
What a nightmare!
Junction box
No worries, if you don’t have a splice machine, just place it on some 66 blocks on the wall
I used to work as a telephone technician in the 70s. I remember having to splice the cables a few times back then. Maybe that’s why I used to drink a lot during that time.
Back when I worked for a cabling company, one of the techs walked me through the pairings. Basically tip and ring, right?
Yes
Splice it together carefully.
You could try asking the boss for your yearly salary in one lump sum after finishing all that splicing 😂
Consider hiring a professional who is trained for this.
I’ve spliced 100 pairs before. Use a junction box and scotch-locks. Make sure there’s a ribbon around every 25 pairs. It gets easier with each connection, so take your time.
Uy Jones, most underground cables are 10 pair spliced, especially the ones filled with grease. We used to terminate them daily.
You are probably correct but we utilized a 100-pair phone cable that contained 4 – 25 pair bundles in one sheath.
Uy Jones, keep them twisted and avoid them from fanning out
Ary L. Olinger, yes
Molweni, igama lami Asonele. Ndise qumbu, andazi ndingabulela kanjani utata ngomsebenzi wakhe omhle endenzele wona. Ndandixakekile nami, ndemva ngomnye uSISI wase Newlands ebulela utata wamceda ngemali engena kwi account. Nami ndathi ndiyamfonela utata wandinika 1 hour, ngemva kwa 1 hour ndangenelwa imali ebank account yam engango 2.2 million. Yena utata ndambathala 20 percent yale mali endandiyi tholile. Utata wenza konke kwaye utata ufumaneka kule number call or WhatsApp 0676852601. Amen 🙏🙏🙏
I would splice that cable any time! When I was an electro-mechanic at Lauardia with the FAA, we dealt with an approach light system for Runway 4 that extended from the runway threshold, across the rand Central Parkway, into a residential area. Each lighting station had 5 steady-burning lights along with a high-intensity flashing unit that created a fireball effect towards the runway. The entire flasher system was controlled by a 100-pair cable. On one 4th of July, the system went into alarm, and my partner and I were called to find that neighborhood kids had inserted road flares into a junction box, causing all wiring and terminal blocks to melt. We had to identify and reconnect each pair in the cable since all pairs were red/white. It took a lot of time and effort, resulting in double time and a half pay. Once we informed the neighbors that damages would come out of their taxes, incidents decreased significantly, thanks to neighbors chasing the kids away. Every time I saw a contractor with a backhoe at the airport, I knew it would be a long shift.
How many electricians here used to be the ones doing “dirty deeds done dirt cheap” when they were younger? 🤚
Consider getting a comfortable cushion to sit on!
I believe the original poster is not inquiring about splicing. By the way, do any of you have experience with resumes?
I almost believed you were serious for a moment there, ! I was about to offer my help. 🤓
Are you afraid of work?
This brings back some memories. I remember the phone wire with a 3-inch wide jacket when I used to work in precious metals recycling. We referred to it as ocean wire.
Enjoy a few drinks, take the time to match the colors.
A few 66 punch blocks and the necessary tool.
Make sure to get the right measurement, boss. It’s not on me. LOL
More withdrawals today! I truly value everything you’ve done for me, you’re amazing and I’ll make sure to always share your good deeds. -Miss Michele Clinton
What the heck are you doing here?!
Such a pain in the head 🤕
It’s possible that if you accidentally cut a fiber optic cable and you have life insurance, it might cover the cost of repairing it.
Spreading the word about your company is the least I can do to show my gratitude for everything you do for me. You always manage to bring a smile to my face whenever I receive my return. People like you are exactly what the world needs more of. Keep up the good work, Michele Clinton!
