Hey, this is my friend’s dining room floor. Do you think it’s possible to sand it down and stain it to match the light grey floor she has?
That’s CVG fir, a very soft type of wood. It can definitely be sanded down and restained – Although staining may be trickier compared to a hardwood like oak.
Finding an exact match might be tough, but a close color match is achievable.
If you happen to come across a stain in a matching color, it’s possible.
I suggest sanding, applying a paint wash, and sealing the wood. This way, you can have more control over the color while still allowing the grain to be visible.
Why does it have to be an exact match? Contrasting colors can be more appealing and simpler to achieve.
The grain is actually running in various directions. It might be challenging to achieve the gray and white hues by painting and whitewashing the wood. I recommend practicing on a sample first to figure out the best approach.
Certainly, they can be finished to closely match the same color. But before proceeding, I would recommend verifying that all floorboards are present. It is not unusual to discover patchwork beneath a wood floor covered with carpet.
The grey material appears to be kinesthetic and functions as a floating floor, which is why more of the floating floor should be acquired instead.
No
Hmm, that appears to be mold.. I wouldn’t mess around with that. Mold can be harmful to touch and breathe in, so it’s best to avoid it (mold illness is a real concern)
Sure thing, but the first step is to bleach out the black pet stains, then sand and stain grey & poly. Also, make sure to use a transition strip between the two floors.
Sure thing!
