Can the snapped sash cords in our older rancher turned Air Bnb windows be fixed without removing them like in refurbishing videos?

We’ve got this old rancher that we’re sprucing up into an Air Bnb. The windows are all able to open, but some won’t stay put because the cords have snapped.
I’m really scratching my head as to why they used such flimsy cords for these windows. Do you think there’s a way to repair them? I’ve seen tutorials on fixing up old windows that are already removed. Any chance we can tackle this issue too?
There are special gates that can be opened to change the cords on the spot.
