Can peel and stick floor tiles be used on a floor with small tiles, or should I cover them with a rug instead to avoid ripping them up for a quick, cheaper fix?

I’ve never tried those peel and stick floor tiles before, but do you think they would work on a floor with small tiles like this? I’m not looking to tear up these tiles, just trying to find a quick and affordable solution. I’m debating between covering it with a rug or using the peel and sticks. Any advice would be appreciated!

First, prime the floor, then pour the self-leveling compound, sand it down, and finally install the new floor.

Self-leveling can be quite challenging, especially when dealing with doorways, closets, and transitions to carpet…

Self leveling products are specifically designed for this type of application. Basically, you create a barrier at the doorways, pour in the product, and let it do its magic. It’s crucial to remember to prime the floor beforehand. I’ve been relying on these products for the past 15 years and they are extremely user-friendly. You should definitely watch a couple of YouTube videos to see how it’s done. I have been doing this kind of work every day for 45 years.

Same here, but just 32 years for me. That definitely takes us out of the realm of DIY projects. Using a mixing pan, stirring paddle, leveling squeegy, masking, dam at floor vent, and patience are all key components. 🙂

Oh yeah it’s all part of the process. 🤣 Ardex has a great lineup of products. Back in the day, we used to mix it up in 50 gallon drums for those big pours. I focused on commercial projects for the last 25 years. Retirement is treating me well. Representing the Carpenters Union in Detroit! 👍

It seems like everything is going well up to this point. Fingers crossed!🤞

Self adhesive hooks won’t stay in place, they tend to shift and come loose quickly.

You could consider putting vinyl plank flooring on top as a temporary solution. It should hold up well for a few years without any issues.

Peel and stick just doesn’t seem to stick as well.

Haha, that’s funny! I also have the same floor in my bathroom. I’ve gotten used to it and have two rugs that hide most of it.

You can easily install floating LVP over that.

What is the rest of the bathroom looking like?
