Can I save money by removing and reinstalling my windows when replacing siding due to water damage to the sheathing?

Hey there! I was wondering if it’s doable and okay to take out my windows and put them back in. I noticed some water damage to the sheathing when I was replacing the window trim on my unwrapped house. My plan is to replace the siding, but it looks like I’ll have to take off the siding and windows, fix the sheathing, wrap the house, and then put the windows and new siding back on.

The windows were actually replaced a couple of years before I moved in, and I’m hoping to save some cash by reusing them. Has anyone gone through something similar and has any tips to share?

Definitely. If they work efficiently, it’s worth the effort to remove and reinstall.

It takes a lot of time and isn’t simple, but it can be accomplished.

You can leave the windows in place when replacing/repairing bad sheathing.
