Can I salvage the rest of my bathroom tile floor after a sump pump installation, or do I need to rip up the whole room due to the previous owner tiling over old tile?

Hey everyone, thanks for accepting my request to join. Just had a sump pump put in our basement and unfortunately, some of the bathroom tile had to be taken out for the installation. I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to save the remaining tile or if I’ll have to redo the entire floor. The previous owner had tiled over the old tile, so that’s adding another layer of complexity. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who in their right mind would tile over existing tile? I would definitely remove it and do it properly

You’re absolutely right, Arty. It’s time to rip it out of the room. Additionally, you should pay attention to the fact that almost every mortar joint in your exterior block wall is cracked. It seems like you had a sump pump and ground water collection system installed in your basement. Did the contractor talk to you about applying any coating to the rest of the block wall?
