Update: Issue resolved! Thanks for the help. Does anyone have any insight on what was causing my door handle to get stuck in the downward position on one side? Any suggestions are appreciated.
Check the lever handle for a small Allen screw. It’s possible that the set screw is loose.
If it’s jammed in that position, there’s a good chance that a spring has either broken or come loose, which is stopping it from going back up.
The barrel has been broken off.
Why don’t you open it and take a look?
Take off the handle to investigate whether the issue is with the mechanism or if the handle simply came loose.
Stick a pointed object into the small hole at the base of the handle to release the locking key and remove it.
I totally get being hesitant about opening it up ⬆️ in case you struggle to piece it back together. Especially when it’s your front door!
Oh, , when you want to remove the handle, simply push a pin into the hole or loosen an allen key. The handle should then slide off easily. To put it back on, just slide it back until you hear a click.
If there’s only one side, I’d check for a small set screw that might have loosened first. Make sure to inspect the lightbulb before tearing out the wiring haha
Hey , do you know where this screw should go?
Hey , thanks! I’ll keep an eye out for a screw like that.
Hey , good luck! It might not be the issue, but it’s the easiest place to begin in my opinion.
It could be a hex screw that needs an Allen wrench to loosen, or maybe it’s a flat-head screw…
Sprinkle some powdered graphite into the keyhole and opening on the handle; for the latch, use a pencil to work it in.
