Can anyone assist me in finding a replacement gasket for a leaky piece and provide guidance on how to replace it?

Hey there, just wanted to mention that this piece seems to be leaking from the middle. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement gasket and how to go about replacing it? Thanks in advance!

Honestly, just swap out the entire valve. They’re around $15-20 and will save you a lot of time compared to trying to repair it.

Turn off the water downstream, remove the hoses, unscrew two screws from the valve, install the new valve, replace a couple of o rings in the hoses, reconnect everything, turn the water back on, and you’re finished.

The valve should be connected to the wall with just 2 screws. Turn off the water, unscrew the two small Phillips screws, and it should come loose. Whether you’re rebuilding or replacing, remember to remove the feed hoses and the valve from the wall. It’s much simpler to swap it out.

If the hoses are difficult to remove, it’s likely because they are old and not soldered. In that case, consider replacing the 2 supply lines as well.

The repair kit costs almost as much as the entire valve assembly, but replacing it is actually quite simple. Just remember to turn off the water main and drain the system before you start the repair or replacement. There are two big silver screws that hold everything together, so remove them to separate the valve body from the pipes in the wall. Make sure to install new gaskets on each side and secure the screws on the new valve. The most challenging part is identifying the right valve, as there are various models available. If you can’t find the name or model number, take some pictures of the valve or bring it with you to the hardware or plumbing supply store and say, “I need one of these.” Good luck!

It’s pretty simple. Just ensure the seat is clean, remove the old gasket completely, a paper towel wipe usually does the trick. Avoid forcing anything, if there’s resistance, it’s misaligned, just readjust it. The new gaskets on the valve body should fit together easily, you might need some plumber’s grease or oil on the gaskets, usually it’s included, but double-check with the store clerk. Just apply the grease on the pieces and assemble them. As you insert the new screws, turn them counterclockwise until you hear a click to align the threads. Since the body is brass, turning them counterclockwise will help prevent cross-threading. When tightening the screws, make sure both are snug but not too tight, wiggle the assembly a bit to ensure proper alignment, then tighten both screws alternating to distribute pressure evenly, avoid tightening one side completely before the other to prevent warping the valve body. Once you have reassembled everything, remember to replace the washer hoses, they should be replaced every 4-5 years. People often overlook this step, but it’s a good time to do it. After reassembly, turn on the water and check for leaks. If there’s a leak, tighten the area a bit more. Best of luck.

I swapped out the assembly last year. It was a breeze! Just make sure to shut off the water, take off the hoses, and unscrew those screws. Installing the new fixture should be just as simple!
