As a first-time DIY home owner remodeling my restroom, do I need to remove the old drywall behind the insert shower to replace it with cement board for a walk-in tile shower?

Hey everyone! So, I’m a new homeowner and I’m diving into some DIY remodeling in my bathroom. I want to get rid of the old insert shower and put in a nice walk-in tile shower instead. My question is, should I take out the old drywall behind the current shower and swap it for cement board? Thanks for any advice!

Definitely

Absolutely. Make sure to waterproof the walls, curb, and floor really well.

Sure thing!

Definitely! Check out a bathroom remodeling tutorial on YouTube, and I suggest investing in his course that guides you through all the steps of shower remodeling.

Benjamín Pedroza

Absolutely, I suggest opting for an acrylic floor base over a pan and tile.
