What kind of poly are you using? Using an oil-based one will cause the wood to turn amber.
Uses a water-based finish, but the can indicates that it gives a subtle amber hue.
Yeah, some people intentionally do that to imitate an oil-based finish. You’re looking for a “water white” or a “natural finish” clear coat. General Finishes High Performance barely adds any color. Their Flat-Out-Flat is the most transparent one I’ve tried.
