Are you considering swapping out the bottom and painting the trim on the cabinet doors to finish your project as a first-time homeowner?

I began a project yesterday and I’m really happy with how it’s turning out! Being first-time homeowners, I’ve never really tackled anything like this before. I still need to add another coat of paint, but I managed to accomplish all of this in just one day with a two-year-old running around – pretty impressive, right? I’m still debating whether I should change out the bottom or just paint the trim on the cabinet doors and leave the rest white. 🤔 Almost finished! 💛
The green color is fantastic. I think I would opt for painting the bottom green as well.
I intend to! This is just the progress from yesterday and I’m pretty tired now
I’ve definitely been putting in some work on that today! This is just the progress from yesterday.
My cabinets are also green. Not the usual white ones you see every day!
Really liking this! I was worried the all green wouldn’t work with our cabinet doors not being flat, but now that I’ve finished the bottom halfway, I’m loving the grey and thinking of making the top white grey!
Loving the green cabinets!
Thank you. When we moved into our new house, I left all the decorating decisions to my wife. Initially, I was hesitant when she mentioned sage green, but it turned out beautifully.
Green is such a tricky color. We just finished building our home last year and initially wanted a green island, but I couldn’t find the perfect shade of green. Yours is exactly what I had in mind.
I do a lot of cabinet and custom carpentry painting with my business. I haven’t tried green yet, but maybe it’ll be the next big thing.
Here’s a link to some of the projects I’ve completed.

My wife and I went for a similar green color and the same sink in our kitchen, .
You’re looking great, !
Are you able to tell which one comes first and which comes next? The beige and white combination is absolutely amazing. If green is the new choice, then let’s go with green for everything.
I’m really feeling the green on the grey now that I’ve sort of tackled the bottom, so I’m thinking of painting all the white grey!
I agree about the all green. No white needed.
The before look is really nice, especially because I have a strong fondness for white cabinets. You’ve done exceptionally well 💕
The color before was gray and white. I just can’t stand all that white, it gives me the creeps lol!
Emma McCartney, I totally get it, you really did an amazing job though. Mine would have ended up looking like it was done by a two-year-old 😆
I love the white! It looks fantastic. Great job!
How about going all green with brass hardware instead? The only problem I see is that the green you chose doesn’t quite match the green of the counter, and going all green might darken up the kitchen space. Are you thinking about replacing the counter in the future?
Honestly, I think the two-tone is starting to look a bit outdated. How about going with all green instead? Adding brass hardware, like someone suggested, is a great idea. You could even consider painting the countertop so the greens complement each other and don’t clash (if getting a new one isn’t in the budget.) We also painted our cabinets, and let me tell you, it was tough work! But keep it up, you’re doing great! It will definitely be worth it in the end. 😊
Painting cabinets takes a lot of time and now that I’m getting older, it’s starting to become a hassle. Haha. The doors should definitely be painted in a uniform color for a more professional look.
Avoid having two different colors on it.
Just remember to keep the doors off for a few days to allow the paint to properly dry. Otherwise, your doors might end up sticking.
I’d go with all green, the mix of colors is too busy and gives it an outdated appearance, especially with the green countertop
We’re planning on replacing the countertop as soon as we have the budget for a new one, Han Na!
As long as you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters! Enjoy!
Using vinyl wrapping is a simple, affordable, and attractive temporary solution…looks fantastic! Here are my before and after photos…
The issue isn’t with the counter top. Many have pointed out that it’s the border that’s problematic. You could consider using green at the bottom – it’s a fantastic color for lower cabinets!
Great job! Painting cabinets is no easy task! I’ve tackled a few myself. I do agree with the others that the two-tone look is a bit outdated, but what really matters is that when you walk into your kitchen and it brings a smile to your face, then you made the right choice!
I painted my cabinets a few years back. Now I’m considering going for a slightly darker shade on the lower cabinets compared to the upper ones.
I preferred it much more before. Too dark for my taste.
I prefer an all green look without any white or gray accents.
The new color is nice, but I would also paint the trim in the same shade.
Two toned cabinets are a bit overwhelming for my taste.
The green and grey combo looks great, but I have to be honest (even though it means more work for you since it’s opposite of what you’ve already done), the darker shade should be at the bottom and the lighter one on top. Having green at the base will ground the room and prevent it from feeling too dark. Everyone’s suggestion of painting each cabinet a single color is spot on (painting the white grey won’t solve the issue). Removing the contrasting border will give it a more updated feel. Best of luck! Can’t wait to see the final result!
She’s almost done with cleaning and organizing, just need to figure out how to reach those cabinets above the fridge! 😆
