Any tips on hanging a laundry rail in a wall with a deep insulation cavity and difficult studs?

Hey everyone,
So I’m attempting to put up a laundry hanging rail in my utility room and it’s turning out to be a bit trickier than I anticipated. There’s this gap between the brick and plasterboard for insulation that’s about 20cm deep – a surprising discovery. We tried drilling into the studs on the opposite wall to hang it there, but the screws just ended up pushing the plugs through the studs without holding anything in place.
We’re now considering getting a super long drill bit and screws to tackle this wall, but it feels like we might be making things harder than they need to be. Any ideas on a simpler solution for hanging this thing? Thanks in advance!
You should grab a stud finder to locate where to secure the sheet rock.
Is correct, this is your best option. Just be cautious not to tighten the toggle too much. If it digs into the back of the drywall, it will reduce the weight it can hold.
If you run into studs you shouldn’t require “plugs”.
It seems like you’re using wall anchors in the drywall?
You have to locate 2 studs or use the appropriate type of drywall anchor that can support the weight of wet heavy clothes on the hanging bar.
The right wall anchor will allow you to mount it where you prefer.
I recommend searching for a “toggle spring wing anchor” like the attached image. The toggle spring wing, also known as “butterfly” anchors, can support a significant amount of weight compared to plastic plugs. Plastic plugs are only suitable for hanging picture frames.

Place a strut on the opposite side of the wall. Thread the All-Thread through and secure it with bolts.
