Any tips on getting rid of a horrible smell in a fridge left by a previous tenant?

Hey everyone, just a quick question for you all:
The fridge that the tenant left was in really bad shape. I cleaned it really well, it’s completely spotless now, but it still has a terrible smell.
Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? Should I leave the fridge open to air it out?

Check to see if the drain is clogged or if there is water pooling at the back.

Use a mixture of bleach and water.

Place coffee grounds in the refrigerator and let them sit overnight.

Spread out some dry coffee grounds in the fridge and will clean up in the morning. They should help get rid of any odors 😊

My go-to for removing odors are baking soda, charcoal, coffee grounds, and vodka. If the fridge is plugged in and operational, you might want to think about replacing the filter.

Mentioned putting coffee grounds in a spray bottle to soak everything and then air dry. Maybe worth a shot with the fridge off and doors open. I’ve also heard that drinking it helps too 🤣

Try leaving an open bowl filled with coffee grounds in there and see how it goes. My grandpa used to drive trucks and this is how they got rid of smells in their trailers. I’ve tried it a few times and it definitely does the trick! Also, check if the fridge has an air filter. Many newer ones do.

Back in the day, we would stick a piece of chewing gum in the fridge

Remove the grate from the front bottom and check what’s underneath. If you don’t find a drip tray there, go to the back and search–and while you’re back there, make sure to vacuum all the dust. https://www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/9218537/woman-horrified-smell-fridge-drip-tray-mould/
