Any tips for digging post holes next to structures to prevent dogs from slipping through or rabbits from coming in?

Hey everyone!

I’m planning on getting a wooden privacy fence soon. Do you have any tips for me? I’m especially curious about how to dig post holes near existing structures – I want to make sure it’s secure enough to keep my dogs in and prevent any rabbits from getting in (and potentially meeting a sad fate due to my dogs).

Personally, I like using metal posts and attaching 2×4 stringers to mount fence boards. By attaching the 2x4s to the face of the posts, you can run the fence boards up to any structure, even if the post needs to be placed away from it

I decided to skip the posts next to the house and attached a 2×4 directly to the brick to anchor the fence
