Any suggestions on updating my kitchen without changing the counters and sink?

I just posted some pictures in the comments… Any suggestions on how to improve this? I’m thinking about changing the backsplash. I’m planning on pulling a piece up behind the fridge to check the condition of the wall. I’ve considered painting the cabinets, but I’ve been told not to. Maybe with a new backsplash and some paint, I can improve the look! I’m not sure if I’ll be able to change the counters and sink because they’re connected, with the sink molded into the counters. I’m also not a big fan of the floors, but I’m not great at interior design. Thanks for any advice!

I painted my cabinets with that same tile. I really like it, but if you don’t mind, mine was just peel and stick from Amazon. Maybe that’s what you have.

The backsplash is probably ‘Fasade’ glued on. It should be okay to switch it out for something else after removing it. You could also try painting it for a different look.

This is basically the same material with a different design on my kitchen ceiling. Originally it was white but I painted over it.

A couple thoughts, Alexis. Those wood cabinets and corian countertops are too beautiful to paint over. Are the 4” corian backsplashes part of the countertops, or are they separate? If they’re separate, I would recommend removing them. To bring everything together (flooring, cabinets, counters, stainless steel), the painted drywall should match one of them. I would go with the countertops. The new backsplash is crucial – you should consider mother of pearl mini subway tiles. They come in many colors that can complement your cabinets, floors, and countertops. The natural sheen of the tiles looks fantastic with stainless steel. Peel and stick mother of pearl tiles are a great option, as they are easy to install and you can choose ones that are close together to avoid grout lines. Make sure to check reviews for adhesion ratings.

We opted for peel and stick backsplash from Amazon. It’s great!

I really like the cabinets and wouldn’t want to paint them, but I think changing the backsplash would make a big difference. It would be great to see a full picture of the kitchen. Personally, I think light natural wood floors would look amazing in there. What kind of flooring do you have throughout the rest of the house?

I think the middle option is the way to go

Something similar would be great for the flooring too.

Have you seen those super strong magnet baby proof locks that are invisible from the outside and won’t harm your cabinets? There are several brands available, but I personally prefer the safety first ones. Some of the larger multi-pack ones don’t work as effectively.

What material did you use for your countertops? I added a tile that I think would complement it nicely if you like a touch of gold. I think real wood floors would be a good option, or a creamy white tile. The gray flooring in the hallway might clash with the natural wood in the kitchen. I would suggest changing the faucet, handles, and backsplash.

Adding under cabinet LED strip lighting can really change the vibe in your kitchen. It will brighten up the backsplash and create a lovely glow. Plus, it’s an affordable and relatively simple upgrade to make.

If changing the floors is not an option, maybe consider tiling the backsplash to complement the floors (maybe grey/green?)

Your countertop is very neutral. Here are a few color suggestions for the walls…

Do you know what color the pantry door is?

How about white backsplash and countertops?

Cabinets have a lot of personality already. How about subway tile with a textured (not smooth) finish, likely in white? Make sure the dishwasher matches the other appliances. Consider adding a colorful runner for some pop. You might also want to lessen the items on the counter and wall frames above the doorway for a cleaner look?
