“Any suggestions on how to repair the outside of my kitchen patio door with a window that may have had something glued to it in the past?”

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself, I’m Darien and I could really use some advice. I have a picture of my kitchen to patio door here. I’m not sure what year this door is from, but I need some help fixing up the outside. It looks like something was once glued to the wood, but I’m stumped on how to make it look good again. Any suggestions on how I can spruce this up? Thanks in advance! Unfortunately, replacing the door is not an option for me right now.
Sand it lightly and then paint it any color you prefer.
I’m not entirely sure how to get rid of the glue, but I think your best option would be to carefully scrape it off using a putty knife. After that, you can sand it down and then apply a stain or paint.
Honestly, the only way to improve the appearance is by replacing the door. I understand if you don’t want to spend the money, but sometimes you have to invest to make things look nice.
Lois Mcowan mentioned that for some people, it comes down to choosing between groceries or gas, or even a new door. There are folks out there who simply can’t afford those extras.
Were you the one I was talking to, ?
Remove the excess, sand it down, apply primer, and paint it.
