Any suggestions on how to fix a hole left by tilers or handle a height difference where floors meet? Thank you!

Hey there! 😊
I’m reaching out for a friend who needs some guidance.

1. Do you have any recommendations on the best material to use for filling in the gap left by the tilers around the staircase and piping?
2. There’s a noticeable difference in height where the two floors connect. Any ideas on how to address this?

Thanks so much in advance for your help! 🙏

I usually find step-up transitions at a local flooring store, they offer a range from 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch for different height variations. Not sure about the gaps though 🤷

Colorful Mapei self-leveling caulking is great for filling in holes and edges. High quality product!

A quarter round is a type of molding that is shaped like a quarter of a circle.

It’s all about the flange. Different types are available.

They definitely exceeded the height of the existing floor, most likely a DIY project, a professional tile setter would have carefully worked around obstacles and utilized the correct transition. You can pick up some sanded tile grout in the same shade to fill in around the pipe. You might need to apply a bathroom caulk to seal around the baseboard. If there’s any leftover grout in the basement, that could be helpful.
