Any affordable brush recommendations for painting and waxing a wooden bookshelf with Behr chalk paint?

Hey! So, I snagged this awesome unfinished wooden bookshelf at Goodwill yesterday and I’m planning to give it a makeover with Behr chalk paint and wax. I’m thinking of sanding it down and filling in those uneven spots with wood filler before I get started.
I’m a bit of a newbie at this DIY stuff, so I was wondering if you had any other tips before I dive in? Also, do you have any suggestions for what type of brush I should use for the paint and wax? I saw Behr chalk and wax brushes at Home Depot, but they were a bit out of my budget. Any ideas? 🥴
I opted for a budget-friendly chip brush and it actually did a decent job.
Awesome, thanks !!
I picked up some “chalk paint brushes” from the craft/stencil aisle at Walmart. I can’t recall the exact price, but they have proven to be extremely durable through various projects like stenciling and painting furniture.
In the past, I stuck with Annie Sloan paint and wax but decided to use different brushes than what was suggested. I found some similar ones and they worked really well. When applying the wax, I always use a cotton cloth.
Just make sure to give it a nice cleaning and then sand with a higher grit sandpaper. I found a great round paintbrush on Amazon for a good price.
