Has anyone here ever dealt with removing asbestos board from their garage or property? What about getting rid of artex that contains asbestos on the walls? I’d love to hear any tips or recommendations on how to handle it. Thanks so much in advance!
It really varies depending on where you live. In Alaska, you either need to double bag it or bury it on site. Make sure to wear at least an N95 mask. It’s important to contain dust and vacuum thoroughly.
In many states, you must hire an abatement company for removal and disposal. If required in your state, don’t risk getting in trouble with the EPA. However, if your state has lax regulations, wear a respirator and clean up thoroughly afterwards. Check with the local dump for disposal guidelines.
Make sure to protect yourself with a respirator. Homeowners here have no specific rules for disposal, but abatement companies follow strict regulations. They suit up in hazmat gear and double-bag the waste before sending it to the landfill.
It’s best to leave it to the pros. Always hire a reputable company with insurance before they begin.
Why not remove it while it’s still wet? That way, no dust will be left behind.
