I’m thinking about painting my bathroom tile, but I’m a little nervous about it, haha. Do you have any tips or tricks? Check out the pictures of my current tile and the tiles that inspire me.
I decided to stencil mine. They still looked great until my daughter accidentally used gasoline to clean up hair dye, which ruined them unfortunately.
Wow, needs gasoline?! That’s funny haha
Those darn teenagers. 🤣
I lightly sanded the entire floor. I ended up using Annie Sloan paints. Then I applied her lacquer for the top coat. It took me around 30 hours just to do the stenciling. I might redo it in the future but for now, it still looks pretty good!
That looks amazing!! If I decide to paint it, it’ll just be temporary until I save up to replace them. We recently invested in a new hvac system so we’re doing what we can little by little. We’ve only lived in our house for a year but definitely want to make some changes 😂
I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s a waste of time and money that could be put towards getting new tiles. Plus, if you do paint them, you’ll likely have to replace them sooner rather than later.
Really ?! 😩 we won’t be able to replace the tile for a while, that’s why I was hoping to paint it and hopefully have it last a year / year and a half
I’ve seen products that claim it’s doable. Personally, I have my doubts about paint adhering well to tile. Maybe it could work on linoleum or inexpensive snap lock flooring until you’re ready for a renovation.
Have you heard of Rustoleum floor paint? It comes in various colors. You can look it up online – there are plenty of tutorials available. Most people opt for two colors and use stencils. It’s known to hold up well – some websites have even posted follow-ups 1-2 years later showing that it’s still intact. Check out this TikTok video where someone created a marble effect as you suggested (though I must warn you, if you’re a perfectionist, you might not like it haha):

Here’s an update after two years – the person has kids and had to do some touch-ups near the toilet. I’m curious if it was a prep or curing issue. Nonetheless, it still looks great overall.

Thanks a bunch!!!!!
I feel the same way about my floor color. For $50, I’m willing to give this a try, and it should last at least a couple of years.
Consider peel and stick tiles if you need a temporary fix that’s budget-friendly and won’t require much effort. We opted for these in our master bath, knowing we might change it in a few years.
When water pools on them, they tend to curl up, and they end up looking quite cheap when they’re down (we had dirt get in the cracks so you could see the lines and you could tell they’re sticky tiles). I always find it surprising when people recommend these over painting because they seem like a super cheap cover as opposed to painting. Plus, most people won’t bother lifting the baseboards/toilet to go under them.
Hey , my extensions have been on for 3 years already and they still look great. I had a bad experience with them years ago, but these ones I got on Amazon are amazing.
Hey, , your outfit looks really nice. Great work 🙂
