Unfortunately, I don’t see anything worth saving in these photos.
Hey , what do you think about tearing it down and starting from scratch? Is that the best course of action in your opinion?
Absolutely . While some chips can be fixed, in your case, it’s not worth it. Not to sound harsh, but none of the items in those photos are worth investing any money into repairs.
Please don’t think I find your comments rude! ๐ I genuinely need some advice on this because we’re planning to make this our permanent residence and I want the best for our home.
I concur that gutting it would be the optimal course of action.
I’m always unsure these days. Some individuals can be quite sensitive. However, yes, demo everything around the tub to the framing. Not sure how skilled you all are and having completed hundreds of them, I hesitate to say it’s simple but with some research, it’s truly a manageable project
Hey , I’ve been doing some research and I’m quite handy myself. But luckily, I have a neighbor who could lend a hand with a project like this.
Hey , you’re spot on. Just switch out the tub, it should be pretty straightforward since the plumbing is already there. Just connect the new overflow and change the trap while you’re at it. Install a new valve and apply some hardiebacker on the walls. Make sure to waterproof everything properly with redguard or a similar product, do a bit of tiling, and voila, you’re good to go!
Unfortunately, gut it. Like Tim mentioned, nothing is worth keeping. The framing under your shower valve appears to be rotten in the picture. ut it, replace any damaged framing, and go from there. YouTube and this group can assist you at every step๐
