I was overseeing a job across 4 floors, and when the elevator was out, we had to carry materials up the stairs. Some individuals actually had the audacity to ask if this was a form of punishment.
Why can’t she simply take pride in being an electrician? Most of the time, our work is not particularly unique physically, and we are not dealing with life-threatening situations like fighting fires or being on a battlefield. So, why does gender even come into play? If a woman were to share a photo of herself helping to carry a heavy spool up a long flight of stairs, that would be truly remarkable physically. But please spare me from seeing them posing with an impact drill or standing next to a disconnect switch they just operated. It’s become too common.

Hey , I noticed that tower in Nashville. It seems like you’re part of IBEW. Make sure you have your (TTT-1) from NWSA to get started.
Even after you get your TTT-1, you still wouldn’t be able to climb that tower. But at least you can start with the basics of cell towers.
I had female apprentices and also collaborated with female electricians. I held them in high regard and did my best to impart knowledge to them.
I’ve never had a female apprentice. But then again, there aren’t many women volunteering for what I do.
If someone can do the job, I’m all for supporting them in any way I can.

The people I work with are mostly Hispanic, and they usually handle rough work or service tasks. However, when it comes to installing piping for aviation lights on high-rise buildings that are 30+ floors high and hanging off the side, they are nowhere to be found.
