How can we make paint adhere to our wall paneling without peeling or being removed by painter’s tape during our remodeling project?

Hey, does anyone have any tips on how to make paint stay on wall paneling? We’re doing some remodeling and the paint keeps peeling off. Even painters tape is making it worse.
Create some texture by lightly sanding it with 400 grit sandpaper before painting, this helps the paint adhere better
‘t forget to clean it before applying paint
Smooth out the surface first. Try using Heirloom all in one paint, it includes all the necessary items. Check out the tutorials on their website and connect with their community 🙂
I usually start by lightly sanding, then applying an oil-based primer before painting.
The best way to prepare is to clean with sand and oil-based primer.
Hey, you actually don’t have to sand or use oil primer. There are primers specifically made for smooth surfaces.
Sanding is definitely necessary for that.
Nope, no sanding required!
When dealing with smooth surfaces, you can skip sanding and simply use a wet cloth to wipe them down. Let it dry before applying primer and paint – I swear by this method!
I actually work at a Benjamin Moore store myself. Recently, my mom redid her outdated paneling walls and all she used was a reliable bonding primer such as Stix by INSL-X. Just ensure the surface is well-cleaned before applying. After that, feel free to use any paint you prefer.
Make sure to clean it thoroughly and lightly sand to scuff it up. There’s likely a heavy amount of oil on the surface. Consider using White Lightning or TSP.
Prior to painting, make sure to use an oil-based primer.
Thoroughly clean the paneling surface.
Hey there! We recently finished painting our entire house with paneling and it’s still looking fantastic. Let me walk you through what we did…
Begin by thoroughly cleaning with TSP
Gently sand the surface
Wipe off any residue from sanding
Apply Sherwin Williams Extreme Bonding Primer
Finish with two coats of Sherwin Williams paint

In one of the rooms, we even went the extra mile to spackle and smooth out the walls. I can share some tips with you if you’re interested!
This color is everything! Although my hubby would probably disagree 😂
Hey, check out our 18 month old’s room makeover! Our groovy 70’s house has wall paneling and wallpaper everywhere, and we decided to paint over it instead of replacing all the drywall. Surprisingly, I’m really digging the new look. My sage green living room is my favorite though, the paneling adds character!
I did the same thing! I ended up keeping the darker brown paneling in our living room because it went so well with the fireplace. I’m a fan of vintage but sometimes a fresh coat of paint is all you need 😊
Start by sanding it.
Get it clean, give it a good sanding, clean it again, apply primer, and finish it off with some oil-based paint.
You know that plastic-like coating? You’ll want to sand it and maybe use a chemical sander/etcher before applying a coat of primer and some top-notch paint.
