Can you provide images and advice for creating a bathroom with a walk-in shower and standalone tub, considering space limitations and potential challenges?

I’m on the hunt for bathrooms in real life that have walk-in showers and standalone tubs – I’d really like to see some pics for ideas, and get the lowdown on the pros and cons. Any must-dos or things to be aware of that you can share? This is a big project, so I want to make sure it’s feasible with the space we’ve got before I dive in too deep. 😊
Consider using large tiles for the shower to minimize the number of grout lines. You’ll thank me later!
Large porcelain slabs
In my opinion, one of the worst trendy concepts. You spend a fortune on a huge, drafty, and freezing cold shower, only to create openings in the waterproof floor for pipes to pass through. And then you end up with something that gets dirty with soap scum and skin oils every time, even though it’s only used a few times a year.
Agreed. I take baths more than 5 times a year because I enjoy them, but having a cold and drafty shower could be problematic. I’m sure there’s a way to prevent that though?
You just made a $65,000 shower by heating all the floors and walls with Ditraheat.
Are you referring to a ‘wet room’? They can be great space-savers and are ideal for aging in place due to the lack of floor transitions. We decided against it because our bathroom is spacious and wouldn’t steam up like a closed shower area.
Our bathroom is actually a wet room, and it’s pretty spacious. You make some valid arguments. Appreciate it!
Forget about the tub and consider putting your washer/dryer in the bathroom instead. Trust me, your future self will thank you for having laundry on the second floor. I wish we could remove the jacuzzi from our master bath and move the washer/dryer up from the basement. The jacuzzi just collects dust and was installed by the previous homeowner.
We also have a Jacuzzi, but I’m thinking of switching to a standalone tub to make cleaning easier. I really love taking baths! 😁
Our laundry room on the main level is really small and my least favorite room in the house. It would be nice to have a second washer and dryer, but I would have to keep the original ones too since I wouldn’t want the only set to be in the bathroom accessible through the bedroom. It’s a tough decision, but I can see benefits to both options. Thanks for your input!
We recently installed a washer/dryer combo in our second-floor bathroom for guests, and it’s ventless!
Is amazing!
Wait, are you saying you have a bathtub in the shower too? That’s annoying! I don’t want to share the shower with my husband at the same time, haha.
I’m thinking about having separate bathrooms for us! No mixing products lol
Ot it. 🤣
All I can picture is him bending down to clean his legs and I’m staring at his backside. Pass on that 🤭😂
Stand alone bathtubs can be a real hassle to get in and out of.
