Any ideas on how to repair a new headboard without having to throw it away?

Any ideas on how we could repair this headboard? It’s brand new and I really don’t want to get rid of it. ðŸ˜
L brackets
Use angle brackets and long screws. You can also ask the company to send a replacement.
Hey Jac, I would love to help but I actually got it from an auction
If the bed is rocking, please refrain from knocking. ðŸ«
Unfortunately, this cannot be repaired. You may need to purchase a new one.
I had a similar experience where I had to pull myself up using the headboard after a leg injury. I carefully put it back together using glue, clamps, and some long screws. I thought about adding extra support like brackets or flatbar, but never got around to it. Turns out, I didn’t need to anyway. A glued joint can actually be stronger than the original material if you fit the pieces back together carefully with a good glue and clamp it tight. I then added the long screws once the glue had dried.
Hey Dave! What kind of glue should I use? And after the glue, should I try using the L brackets?
Hey Nicole! There are specific types of glue made for wood that woodworkers often use. These are thick liquid glues, not glue sticks or glue gun materials. Once you’re sure everything will fit back together nicely and figure out how to hold everything tight until the glue dries, you can apply the glue to the broken surfaces of each piece and assemble them. Then, wait for 24 hours for the glue to set hard and dry. You can use brackets if you want, but in my case, I didn’t need them.
Pretty much what I was thinking – using glue and screws, just make sure to be accurate
Hey Nicole, if the headboard is made of particle board, just using glue probably won’t be effective for you. You’ll need some woodworking tools and skills for a more secure option
I mean, I do have a drill. I can attach some L brackets in addition to using glue
Particle board is not made of solid wood.
You could swap out that narrow black 3/4 strip on the small broken piece with a wider piece. It’s probably glued on, so an oscillating tool would come in handy. Make sure to glue the new piece and joints thoroughly before screwing them together and clamping. Consider using a hardwood strip for a better option!
I’m not telling you to relax your sex life, but maybe take it easy… Haha
How about using some good old particle board? Maybe consider adding a piece of real plywood to the backside to strengthen it.
Simply swap out the particle board with oak planks, then securely glue and screw them together.
If you glue it back together, it may not look perfect, but it’s still better than using angle brackets on the inside or outside of the bed. You can then paint the bracket black.
Congrats on the new addition to your family!
I’d glue the seam and then get some metal brackets from Lowe’s along with short screws to secure the sides. Maybe about four brackets all along the seam.

Suggests predrilling for the brackets.
I was actually considering the L shaped ones by .
Maybe consider choosing the Nicole PN instead?
Consider using dowels, biscuits, or metal plates for joining the pieces
Advise him to go a bit easier next time
Attach the pieces together with glue, then pre-drill holes for either 3 inch or 6 inch deck screws depending on how far they need to travel to bring the pieces together.
At times, the effort required to repair it outweighs the cost of purchasing a replacement. Repairing particle board is time-consuming and not durable in the long run. I hope this information is helpful
Hey Dustin, yes, the base material is just not good quality, so not really worth fixing in my opinion
Gorilla glue is seriously strong, especially the expanding type. It can seep into that particle board. Try to press it together as well as you can or use clamps while it sets. Perhaps consider adding a bed frame support in that spot.

It seems like that smaller broken piece can actually be unscrewed, maybe that will make it easier to put back together
If you’re looking to secure it, why not tackle all four corners at once?
Angle iron plus screws
Particle board. Irreparable. Dispose of it.
Return it and explain that it arrived damaged in the packaging
This is made of particle board… you might want to consider using two part epoxy and adding reinforcement bars with screws to repair it. Otherwise, it’s beyond repair.
Unable to return the item?
Make sure to review the implied warranty in your state or province. It might offer coverage.
You could try adding an angle piece or several L-brackets to the inside corner
Thanks a lot for the advice. I’m thinking about using glue and L brackets. I’m just not sure which type of glue
